CEO of Dodge, Ralph Gilles, recently announced the end of production for the current Viper, scheduled for summer 2010. The important news is, prior to that, 500 final special edition Vipers will be built. According to Gillies, these vehicles will be "the most special Vipers ever."
Gilles said that Dodge wanted to boost the value of existing Vipers by not extending production forever. However, he did not specify what will make the final 500 production cars so special.

Most important of all for Viper lovers is exciting news for the future. An all-new Viper is slated for a launch targeted for 2012! Even better, Chrysler's new Italian rescuer, Fiat, may unleash a bit of Ferrari magic on the new Viper production. Now that could be a very interesting, totally unique, culture-busting alliance.
